Of course people with anxiety and depression dont open up and are afraid to talk about their problems. Its not just the stigma from society. Its also other criticism from people who have supposedly recovered. Thats because no negativity is allowed. They even seem bewildered by it as if they cant comprehend people with totally F**ked up lives still being negative and not full of positivity and enthusiasm. Someone who may have been avoidant for years and had no normal life is basically told to just go and confront all their worst social fears constantly until recovery and made to feel guilty or a coward for being somewhat reluctant or pessimistic. Never mind, some deep breathing and meditation will surely help! 9 out of 10 people with SA dont even seek help. This may be partly why. Its certainly put me off.
Why is there a common theme with so many people who have supposedly recovered from anxiety of hostility and blame to those still struggling? If they have recovered then where does all this inner rage and anger still come from? After all the only person suffering is the one still with the anxiety problem. If the only cure is to bully and shame people into taking action then its hardly rocket science and will only surely make people with severe problems even more depressed if they fail. Perhaps they haven’t really recovered at all but still feel immense stress at doing certain things or they have relapses and then feel that other people should be made to suffer too. Just like people who hate their job slagging off benefit scroungers. Cruel to be kind?
